19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of that year.
Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
